ChristmasLAS VEGAS (KSNV) - 'Tis the season of giving and one secret Santa Claus has been roaming the halls of Palo Verde High School spreading some unexpected Christmas cheer in Summerlin.
The anonymous gifter has been handing out expensive shoes, video games, and makeup to surprised seniors. No one knows who's behind it.
What's happening is both inspiring and magical, and it all started after a selfless stranger made an unexpected request.
"I think the fun of it is not knowing," said Allyson Snelling, a senior.
It's a super-secret operation, the likes of which Palo Verde High School has never seen before.
"I think it's pretty cool," said Christian Inzunza, a senior.
"I'm just like, 'Who is it?'" asked Savannah Ornelas, another senior.
The mysterious person on Twitter is known to seniors only as Palo Santa Claus. He asked for wish lists and said he will hand out gifts through the first week of January.
"He said no item is too big or too small," explained Snelling.
Some students thought it was fake. Others hoped it was real.
"On Monday morning, there was a wrapped present sitting on my desk in government and it happened to be a brand-new pair of Nikes," noted Snelling.
The selfless stranger is handing out gifts unconditionally and randomly. Students have received shoes, makeup and clothes.
"There were six gifts for my class," said Snelling. "All of us got brand-new shoes."
Even Principal Darren Sweikert is in the dark.
"I was just as surprised as everybody," said Sweikert. "Some of these gifts given are kind of pricey, so it's definitely impressive. It's increasing school spirit."
There have been screams, laughs and smiles. It's a combination of excitement and being caught off guard.
"Just seeing the expressions on people’s faces when they see these gifts, it can turn everyone's whole day around," said Snelling.
The pure generosity is inspiring students to perform their own acts of kindness.
"Buying meals, surprising other kids, I think it's just overall kindness," noted Snelling.
It started with a stranger. But it's now making the holidays a little more magical, one gift at a time.
