Real-life Grinches caught on camera stealing family’s inflatable Christmas display
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) - Two real-life Grinches are on the prowl after a Las Vegas family discovered their Disney Christmas display had been stolen from their front yard. It happened near South Jones Boulevard and West Cactus Avenue Tuesday afternoon in Southern Highlands.
Ashley Leach hopes home surveillance video will lead to two arrests.
“They’re real-life Grinches and I don’t even think the storybook Grinch would steal Mickey and Minnie,” said Leach.
Leach said the two grumpygrouches stole her Christmas cheer. Leach went to the store on Sunday and bought the inflatable Mickey and Minnie displays. The self-described Disney fanatic couldn’t wait to put them up. But she didn’t think she needed to guard her front yard. Two days later, a camera hidden in her doorbell captured the burglary play out in real time.
"It has a wide-angle view and you can also zoom,” she explained as she showed us the camera. "Two gentlemen, I wouldn’t even call them that, just quickly come into my yard, rip up Mickey and Minnie and my extension cord,” she said.
In the surveillance video, you can see Minnie being dragged through the grass.
"Why? Why steal Mickey and Minnie?” she asked. "They’re just inflatables. Why?"
Leach filed a police report. She also posted the video on Facebook.
"I didn’t think it was going to get this big! I’m pretty sure it has 40,000 views,” she noted. “It would be great if I got my Mickey and Minnie back, but I’m pretty sure that’s not going to happen,” she continued.
Leach hopes you’ll recognize the crooks and call the cops.
"Give them their 15 minutes of fame that they wanted,” she said.
